FAYETTEVILLE — Actors starring in TheatreSquared’s The Last Five Years gave partygoers Nov. 4 a sampling of what to expect when the adult musical by Jason Robert Brown hits the stage at Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios beginning Friday. The male and female leads, Nathan Riley and Valarie Andrews, performed in Don Marr’s living room for a crowd gathered for a fundraiser there.
Marr’s invitation touted the get-together as “more than just another fundraiser.” Martinis, wine and innovative edibles by David Lewis proved it to be true. Guests included many on the Fayetteville City Council, such as Fayetteville Mayor Dan Coody and wife Deborah, Alderman Kyle Cook and wife Jennifer, Shirley Lucas, Brenda Thiel, Lioneld Jordan and (as of election day Tuesday ) Alderman-elect Nancy Allen.
The Last Five Years, directed by Amy Herzberg, will open Friday and will run Thursdays through Sundays (except Thanksgiving ) through Dec. 3. The musical is the third production by TheatreSquared, the region’s first professional theater company.
