FAYETTEVILLE — Gifted actors Jason Engstrom and Kris Stoker performed “a living brochure” of TheatreSquared’s forthcoming second season for a group of supporters and new recruits on Aug. 23. Christine and Tim Klinger hosted a “friend raiser” at their home in the Fayetteville Historic District to garner financial support for the region’s only professional theater group and to help spread word of TheatreSquared’s existence.

The pair acted out scenes from the company’s recent rendition of Jungalbook and from forthcoming shows — The Mystery of Irma Vepp (which opens Sept. 9 ), Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, Noodle Doodle Box and My Father’s War, written by the group’s playwrightin-residence, Bob Ford. He attended the party with his wife and the company’s associate artistic director, Amy Herzberg.

Following the actors’ presentation, board president David Jolliffe asked guests to “open two eyes” — the “I” in innovation and the “I” in investment. TheatreSquared is starting the season $ 20, 000 in the hole, and Jolliffe encouraged partygoers to contribute to the company if they liked what they saw from Engstrom and Stoker on the Klinger’s back patio.
