GENTRY — The Gentry School Board on Monday authorized a request for the district to obtain a cash-flow loan if needed.

School superintendent Dr. Randy Barrett asked school board members to authorize him to apply for a cash-flow loan for the district up to the amount of the cash-flow loan obtained in the last school year — $ 1. 25 million — to carry the district through until it receives anticipated tax moneys.

He would only apply for the loan if it was needed and only for the dollar amount needed, Barrett told board members..

In other business, a second reading on the school calendar for the 2008-2009 school year was tabled. Policy changes receiving approval on second readings included a dean of students evaluation instrument for certified personnel and an English as a Second Language policy statement. A revision to the stipend schedule was not approved.

A policy on the evaluation of Barrett also was tabled. A policy on health and safety received first reading status and will be submitted to the personnel policies committee for review. No action was taken on a request to extend the contract of the high-school counselor from 210 days to 225.
