BENTONVILLE - Upcoming events at Crystal Bridges at the Massey include the following Discover Art: American Heroes "Star"Book - a free, drop-in program for children and families - will be held from 3 p.m. to 4: 45 p.m. today at Crystal Bridges at the Massey, 125 W. Central Ave. in Bentonville. With the featured exhibition "Wendell Minor: In the American Tradition"as a backdrop to honor heroes of the past and present, families will create a real star-shaped American Heroes "Star"Book with a variety of exciting materials and techniques.

A lunchtime movie," One Nation: Patriot and Pirates Portrayed by N. C. Wyeth and James Wyeth," will be shown from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Crystal Bridges at the Massey. This is a free, drop-in, brownbag program appropriate for adults and teens. Chief Curator Chris Crosman will introduce this film, which spotlights the work of two renowned American artists. From 1912 to 1945, N. C. Wyeth's work epitomized patriotism and all that was American. By the time Jamie Wyeth began painting, " patriotism"had a different meaning for many Americans. The contrast between these eras comes alive in the art of two generations of Wyeths.

"Let's Read a Picture: Who Are You ? Famous Faces"will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St. Led by the Crystal Bridges Learning Experiences staff, this free, drop-in program for children and families will start with children visiting a "gallery"of Crystal Bridges' famous faces to explore ways of portraying people through interactive gallery games and a hands-on portrait project.
