Bella Vista

Willy Christensen, 90, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Vitrup, Denmark, to Christian J. Christensen and Petrea N. Christensen. He moved to the United States in 1949 from Denmark. In 1989, he moved to Bella Vista from Des Moines, Iowa. He was a member of the Bella Vista United Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Inge Margrethe Christensen; five sons, Frank Christensen of Crystal Lake, Ill., Eric Christensen of Des Moines, Iowa, Kurt Christensen of Urbandale, Iowa, Kim Nielsen of Holbek, Denmark, and Tom Nielsen of Cairo, Egypt; five grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

No services are planned.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Margaret Glavin, 81, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Ark. She was born April 19, 1927, in Wellston, Okla., to Leslie Buffington and Marie Buffington.

She was an accomplished cook and was known for her keen wit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Glavin.

Survivors include four daughters, Marsha Laine of Austin, Texas, Susan Spurr of San Antonio, Texas, Trisha Gordon of Houston, Texas, and Rachel Spurr of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Spurr and Yuhong Spurr of Austin and David Spurr of Longview, Texas; a stepdaughter, Carla La Londa and her husband Philip La Londa of Corona, Calif.; three stepsons, Michael Glavin and his wife Mimi Glavin of San Louis Obispo, Calif., Gregory Glavin and his wife Joan Glavin of Arlington, Wash., and Timothy Glavin and his wife Debbie Glavin of Bella Vista; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna Hamilton and Gill Hamilton of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, Dan Buffington of Wimberly, Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bentonville

Emogene Jewel Lewis, 84, of Bentonville, Ark., died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Ark. She was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Greencastle, Mo., to Carl Ercell Scobee and Bessie Smith Scobee. She was a longtime employee of Mutual of Omaha Life Insurance Co. She moved to northwest Arkansas in 2002 from Olathe, Kan. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Kansas City, Mo. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Thomas Lewis Sr.; and two sons, Dannie Skinner and Bill McKee.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael McKee and Michelle McKee of Hartsburg, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie Cornish and Bert Cornish of Bentonville; two brothers, Rosen Scobee of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Charles Scobee of Lawson, Mo.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Stockdale Funeral Chapel in Rogers, Ark., with the family receiving friends at 6: 30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Stockdale Funeral Chapel with Deacon John Pate.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at the Elmira Cemetery in Elmira, Mo., with Monsignor Cauldwell. A viewing will precede the service.

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, 1305 W. Cypress St., Rogers, AR 72758; or to the Cave Springs Volunteer Fire Department, 128 E. Midway Ave., Cave Springs, AR 72718.

El Paso, Texas

Gracie Nelson, 93, of El Paso, Texas, died Saturday, May 3, 2008. She had been a longtime resident of El Paso. Survivors include a son, Charles H. Nelson; a daughter, Mary S. Prowers; two sisters, Imalee Hendrix of Gravette, Ark., and Alpha Stone; six grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Church of Christ in Gravette, Ark. Burial will be at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Hiwasse, Ark. Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Gravette.

Rogers

Kathleen O'Brien, 90, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, May 5, 2008. She was born Jan. 23, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., to Patrick O'Brien and Margaret Molyneau O'Brien. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Community in Rogers. Survivors include four nieces, Elizabeth O'Brien and her husband Ted John of Eagle River, Alaska, Mary Hetland and her husband Paul Hetland of Rochester, N. Y., Patricia Marqua and her husband Charles Marqua of Stratford, Conn., and Teresa O'Brien of Rogers; and a nephew, Kevin O'Brien of Laguna Beach, Calif.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers with Monsignor David LeSieur.

Burial will be at a later date at the All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.

Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762; or to the Jesuits Chicago Province, 2059 N. Sedgwick St., Chicago, IL 60614.

William Vernon Spicer, 48, of Rogers, Ark., died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his home. He was born July 31, 1959, in Indiana. He worked for Southwestern Sales in Rogers.

Springdale

Linda Jean White, 61, of Springdale, Ark., died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Ark. She was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Camden, Ark., to Marion Craig and Emma Jean Smith Craig.

She married Alvin White on Dec. 16, 1967, in North Little Rock, Ark. She moved to this area in 1973. She worked as a surgical nurse at St. Vincent's in Little Rock, Ark.; Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark.; Northwest Medical Center in Springdale; and most recently for Dr. Gareth Eck. She attended Johnson Baptist Church and was involved in Awana.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Anderson; and a granddaughter, Rachael White.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin White; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dusty White and Karla White of Rogers, Ark., and Deke White and Carrie White of Pea Ridge, Ark.; a daughter and son-in-law, Brandi Russell and Wesley Russell of Springdale; two brothers, Charles Craig of Camden, Ark., and Jim Craig of Monroe, La.; a sister, Brenda Craig of Springdale; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge, Ark.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Bentonville Cemetery in Bentonville, Ark.
