Athletic night The Booster Club will hold an athletic-night cookout for students, parents and community members at 6: 30 p. m., Aug. 28, at the high school football field. Players and coaches will be introduced. Hamburgers will be available for $ 5, and season passes and raffle tickets will be sold. Booster Club workday The Booster Club will hold a workday at 8 a.m. Sept. 6. Volunteers are needed to help repaint the bleachers in the football field. Basketball tournament A three-on-three basketball tournament to raise money for the Decatur Schools will be held at 9 a. m., Sept. 20. Fishing derby The fifth annual community fishing derby will be held Sept. 6 at Crystal Lake. There will be five age divisions for children ages 1 through 14. Registration will begin at 8: 30 a.m. and the derby will begin at 9 a.m. There will be prizes and games. A picnic lunch for participants and their families will be served. PTO meeting A Parent Teacher Organization meeting will be held at 6 p. m., Aug. 28, at the Northside Elementary School. Parks and Recreation meeting A parks and recreation meeting will be held at 7 p. m., Sept. 4, to discuss the upcoming Bulldog Days. Volunteer readers The Northside Elementary school is looking for grandparents, family and community members who would like to volunteer to read to students throughout the year. Town hall meetings The Decatur School District will be holding town hall meetings in place of school board meetings to keep the community informed. The meetings will be held in the elementary school cafeteria at 7 p. m., the third Monday of each month, beginning Sept. 15. School officials will make the annual report to the public at the meeting. Decatur Schools fund The Decatur Education Foundation is asking alumni and community members to make a contribution to help keep Decatur schools open. Donations are tax deductible and can be made in person at the Decatur State Bank or by mail. Checks should be made out to the Decatur Education Foundation and mailed to P. O. Box 38, Decatur, AR 72722. Farmers' market A farmers' market will be held on Fridays, beginning at 7 a. m., and on Saturdays, beginning at 6 p. m., in Veterans Park.
