BENTON COUNTY ó The Benton County Planning Commission voted to approve the plans for the Northwest Arkansas Conservation Authority Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant on Snavely Road in Highfill on Aug. 20, pending approval of all submitted documents to the commission.

ě I am here to add my assurance that we are not only going to meet all of Benton Countyís requirements, but also all of (the Arkansas Department of Environmental Qualityís ) requirements as well, î said John Sampier, executive director for NACA.

Open bidding for construction of the wastewater treatment plant will begin Oct. 2, with the project breaking ground before the end of the year, Sampier said.

The goal is to have the wastewater treatment plant built and fully operational by the third quarter of 2009, when the plant should be pumping 3. 6 million gallons a day, Sampier said.

ě Eventually, we will expand to accommodate 8 million gallons of water a day, î Sampier said.

When the projectís engineers, Burns and McDonnell, notified adjoining property owners about the project, no complaints about the project were received.
