Itís also looking for someone to fill the unexpired term for town clerk and treasurer.

Mary Fletcher resigned as town clerk and treasurer at the end of July to work at Cherokee Casino in West Siloam Springs, Okla., Colcord Mayor Pat Upton said.

ì She went to work at the casino because of the benefits there, î Upton said.

The police chief, who had worked for the town for seven or eight weeks, also went to work there, Upton said.

Fletcherís term would have run through April 2009.

ì It is an elected position, î Upton said. ì They have to live within the city limits. î

The town wants someone who has previous accounting experience, but it has yet to receive an applicant with the experience needed for the position.

Salary for the position is $ 450 weekly or $ 23, 400 annually.

The decision to appoint both a new clerk and police chief would be made by the town Board of Trustees.

Colcord started looking for a new police chief earlier this year and hired one about eight weeks ago.

Salary for the position is $ 1, 800 monthly or $ 21, 600 annually.

The town has the equipment and vehicle for one police officer, Upton said.

The police department previously closed in June 2007 when the last officer was fired because he didnít receive his training certificate.

Delaware County Sheriffís Office has been policing the town while itís been without a chief or police department.

Applications are available at Colcord City Hall at 128 S. Colcord Ave., off Oklahoma Highway 116.
