' Welcome' to new SCAC director After 20 years as executive director of the Sager Creek Arts Center, Bep Morrison-Barnes has retired. She came to the Arts Center when it was young and searching for its identity. She began with only one desire, to give opportunity to the many talented folks living here in Siloam and the surrounding area to showcase their talents in theater, music and visual arts.

SCAC has been acknowledged by the Arkansas Arts Council as a model for arts centers in small towns and rural areas. Bep has impressed them with what she has accomplished with the limited resources that have been available. With her charm, personality, dedication, tact, composure and many hours of hard work, and a large number of volunteers, SCAC has become a well-known part of our community and state.

So, it is with great fondness that I say "Thank you, Bep"for long hours of grant writing, hanging art shows, quilt shows, painting scenery, filling in with the theater group when an extra was needed, for the children's workshops, counseling, encouraging, the lovely flower arrangements in the Center, managing to seat 140 diners when you had room for only 125, your diligence in being ready to speak to any organization or group to extol them virtues of the Arts and our Center, the Christmas programs, the Heritage Day teas, the dinner theaters, the music, the Christmas brandy, the coffee pot on and the gingersnaps at the ready. It has been a wonderful run ! Thank you ! Happy trails to you and Tony as you enjoy a well deserved retirement.

If those of you who have enjoyed the Arts Center during these past years would like to honor Bep's years of service with a donation to the Center in her name, I'm sure she would be pleased. You can mail it to SCAC, P. O. box 1127, Siloam Springs, AR, 72761. We will let her know of your donation. Thank you.

And now, we welcome Mary Ellen Mathers as the new director, and look forward to her taking SCAC to the next level. We are happy and proud to have her accept this position. She will be expecting to hear from you, especially if you have ideas, suggestions or would like to volunteer to act, direct, sing, paint scenery, write grants, dust, sweep, etc, etc, etc. Whatever you do, it will be fun. One of the best ways you can help is to become a member of this outstanding organization.
