Kurt Coslett of Springdale received a gold medal in Technical Drafting at the 2008 Arkansas SkillsUSA Championship in Hot Springs.

Natasha Honomichl of West Fork received an Academic Scholarship and a Professional Leadership and Development Scholarship to Hendrix College in Conway. She is the daughter of Tina and Kevin Honomichl.

Jami Morgan of Springdale received a gold medal in the Health Knowledge Bowl at the 2008 Arkansas SkillsUSA Championship in Hot Springs.

R. Adam Stowe of Fayetteville has been awarded a Chancellor’s Scholarship to study at the University of Arkansas. Stow is currently attending Fayetteville High School and is the son of Dr. James Stowe and Regina Stowe of Fayetteville. He plans on majoring in architecture. Chancellor’s Scholarships provide up to $ 8, 000 per year toward tuition, fees and oncampus room and board. Austin Walker of Fayetteville, a senior at Fayetteville High School, has received both an academic scholarship and professional leadership and development scholarship to attend Hendrix College beginning in the fall of 2008. Walker is the son of John and Debbie Walker.

Hendrix College is an undergraduate liberal arts college.

Greenland High School students received the Arkansas Student Achievement Award from the Arkansas ACT Council for their performance on the PLAN (Pre-ACT ) Assessment. These students are on target to meet or exceed ACT’s College Readiness Benchmarks by graduation. ACT’s College Readiness Benchmarks are empirically based and identify the level of achievement necessary in English, mathematics, reading and science to have a successful college freshman experience.

The students that received this recognition from the Arkansas ACT Council are: Chris Arnold, Celi Birke, Dylan Craig, Brandon Giertz, Travis Patton, Emily Tomlinson and Cole White.

Terri Thomas, a senior at Fayetteville High School, has been awarded a Commitment to Excellence Scholarship to the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville beginning in the fall 2008 semester. She is the daughter of Nathaniel and Shirley Thomas and plans to major in sociology.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks recently awarded $ 500 scholarships to 40 area high school students for the Students for Life High School Partnership Program. Among the recipients were Jaclynn Anderson of Greenland, Jordan Fennell of Elkins, Alex Jackson of Fayetteville, Sue Lee of Lincoln, Kimberly Mayes of St. Paul, Brittney Miller-Holloway of the Fayetteville Regional Technology Center and Rebekah Thompson of Har-Ber High School.
