The Fayetteville School District received the Spotlight Award at the sixth annual Work-Life Balance Awards ceremony on Wednesday in Little Rock.
The Work-Balance Awards are presented by the Governor’s Family-Friendly Employer Initiative every year to Arkansas employers for establishing and providing resources that support employees in balancing the needs of both work and family, according to a press release on the event.
These employers and organizations are recognized on a gold, silver or bronze level, said Geania Dickey, the program coordinator for the Work-Balance Awards. In addition to the all-around awards, the judges present the Spotlight Award for an organization or employer who has a specific benefit or policy that stands out and goes above and beyond, Dickey said.
“ Fayetteville Public Schools received the Spotlight Award because of their new fitness center and the expansion of that service to employees and retired employees, ” Dickey said. “ The school district will receive an award from Gov. (Mike Beebe ), as well as have their achievement placed in a publication which is distributed to families, friendly employers and services showcasing the awards. ”
This is the first time for a school district to participate in the event, Dickey said. To be considered for a Work-Life Balance Award, employers must submit comprehensive applications with the services they wish to be recognized, she said.
