A mother’s love is evident in the facial expression of Oleta Wilson as she holds her firstborn child, William Ingram “ Bill”Wilson, in this 1934 photo. Oleta and her husband Johnny lived in Farmington where they raised sheep, hogs, dairy and beef cattle, chickens, strawberries and four children. To help support the family, Oleta traded butter, eggs and chicken at McNeil’s Store in Farmington. This is how she bought baby Bill his first pair of shoes.
