The Fayetteville School District will offer its summer feeding program again this summer at Owl Creek School, 375 N. Rupple Road.

The program offers a free lunch to any person age 18 and younger who shows up at the cafeteria during mealtime, which is 10: 30 a. m. to 12: 30 p. m. Monday through Friday.

There is no income requirement to receive a meal, and students do not have to fill out any application forms.

The program is funded by a federal grant that the distr ict re ceives annually through the Arkansas Department of Human Services, said Lisa Jenkins, district food service director.

The summer meal program had offered breakfast in the past, but it decided not to so this year because the nearby Donald W. Reynolds Boys & Girls Club was making changes to provide more snacks to its summer program participants.

The club has been one of the main participants in the program, bringing over students for the meals, although anyone within the age limit can receive a meal.

Without the club bringing over students for breakfast, there wouldn’t be enough participation to make it worthwhile, Jenkins said.

“ It’s right across from the Boys & Girls Club so it’s very convenient, ” she said.

The program starts June 9 and continues through Aug. 8. Meals will not be served the week of June 30 through July 4.

“ The Boys & Girls Club doesn’t have classes (then ), ” Jenkins said.
