Temporary recovery center to open today in Springdale

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management and the U. S. Small Business Administration will open a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center in Washington County today. The center will open at 9 a. m. and will serve those affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred March 18 through April 28.
The center will be located at 1457 E. Robinson Ave. in Springdale. It will be open from 9 a. m. to 6 p. m. daily through Saturday.
Disaster victims are urged to register for assistance before visiting the center by going online to www. fema. gov or by calling (800 ) 621-FEMA or TTY (800 ) 462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired. Phone lines are open from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. Monday through Saturday.
Representatives from all three agencies will be available at the center to answer questions and provide recovery information. Officials can also can check the status of disaster applications; provide information about state agencies and voluntary organizations; discuss the Small Business Administration’s low-interest loans for homeowners, renters and businesses; and provide information on how to reduce future damage. No cash, checks, debit cards or vouchers are distributed at disaster recovery centers. These centers are solely for the dissemination of information to assist victim recovery.
