David Lashley Park grand opening celebration today

The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Division is celebrating the grand opening of David Lashley Park, 4640 N. Copper Creek Drive, at 5: 30 p. m. today.

David Lashley’s contributions to the community include more than a quarter century of youth coaching in football, softball and basketball, 29 years on Fayetteville Public Schools Athletic Booster Clubs, more than 25 years of service as an officer and director of the Fayetteville Youth Center, a founding board member and officer of Butterfield Trail Village, a Presbyterian church elder, more than 20 years of service as a board member and chair of the Parks and Recreation Division, 30 years as an active Lions Club member, and service as an officer of the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation.

The newly constructed David Lashley Park is situated on about four-anda-half acres in the Copper Creek subdivision east of Crossover Road at the corner of East Zion Road and Copper Creek Drive. Park amenities include a pavilion with two picnic tables, a bicycle rack, two benches and sidewalks.

The public is invited to celebrate the opening of the park. Refreshments will be served.
