The third annual West Fork Watershed Celebration will be Saturday at Riverside Park as part of a group activity to clean up the West Fork of the White River. The cleanup is coordinated by the West Fork Environmental Protection Association.

Volunteers are needed to help with the cleanup, are pickup trucks and their drivers. Visit the association Web site, www. wfepa. org, to register and sign the liability forms. Volunteers should bring gloves.

The cleanup is important because it is an effort to protect the West Fork of the White River, which flows north into Beaver Lake, Northwest Arkansas' source of drinking water.

At the West Fork location, cleanup teams will work both up and down the river from Riverside Park, some on foot and others in boats. Participants will be divided into teams and assigned team leaders.

Registration begins at noon at Riverside Park, followed by the cleanup.

At 2 p. m., activities will begin. These include kayaking, fly-fishing, canoeing and water ecology classes. Fishing poles can be rented for free during afternoon fishing, and bait can be bought for $ 2 a dozen.
