Events and Activities
Botanical Garden of the Ozarks will present an orientation session for all those interested in volunteering at the garden from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. The orientation will introduce volunteers to opportunities in visitor services, guiding tours, educational outreach, horticulture and special events. Participants should bring a sack lunch. Paul Teske, dean and professor at the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver, will speak at noon Friday at the Graduate Education Building, Room 343, on the University of Arkansas campus about “Refining Market-Based Education Reforms: Parent Choice/Information and Teacher Pay for Performance.” The lecture is free and open to the public. Heritage Trail Partners will make up the celebration of the sesquicentennial commemorative Butterfield stagecoach ride at noon Sunday at Fitzgerald Station. There will be stagecoach rides, Dutch oven cooking contest, live music and more; Jacci, 841-1900 or Donna, 530-6462.
