Springdale
Ida Mae Parsley, 75, of Springdale died Monday, May 5, 2008, at The Maples in Springdale. She was born May 8, 1932, in Ball Creek to Charles and Martha Witt Sams. She was retired from Cargill in Springdale and was a member of Ball Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Parsley, and two sons, Rickey Dean Parsley and Danny Dale Parsley. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Parsley of Springdale and Charlie Johnson of Fortville, Ind.; seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Patrick Community Building with Pastor Dustin Sams officiating. Burial will be in Patrick Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronald Sams, Charles Sams, Billy Bowerman, Joseph Parsley, Joshua Parsley and Dakota Parsley. David Scott Slauson Sr., 58, of Springdale died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 1, 1950, in Topeka, Kan., to Wayne Scott and Rose Mendoza Slauson. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and was a service technician and account manager in biomedical at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. Sur vivors include his wife, Mary McCoy Slauson; two children, Heather Beeson of North Kansas City, Mo., and Scott Slauson Jr. of Springdale; his mother, Rose Burns of Springdale; his father and his wife, Wayne and Bonnie Slauson of Shawnee, Kan.; a brother, Paul Slauson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Connie Ubben of Leawood, Kan., and Jan Anderson of Independence, Kan.; and one grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fayetteville Seventhday Adventist Church with Pastor Sam Whatley officiating. West Fork
E. J. "Mac"McConnell, 79, of West Fork died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1929 in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of Elmer and Erma McConnell. He moved to Northwest Arkansas when he retired in 1968 from the USAF, having served a tour of duty with the U. S. Army in the 11 th Airborne in the Army of Occupation of Japan and with the 7 th Air Force in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling in his recreational vehicle. His pilot was Jesus Christ and his navigator in this life was his loving wife, Alice. He was a charter member of the VFW Post 4124 of Farmington, where he served as commander for two years, and at the time of his death was a life member of West Fork VFW Post 10843. He was a volunteer at Washington Regional Medical Center and a member of the First Baptist Church of West Fork. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Daniel; a sister, Irene Richardson; his first wife, Annie L.; a son, Terry Lee; and a granddaughter, Crystal. He is survived by his wife, Alice McConnell; three sons, James J., Jerry R. and Gary G., all of Fayetteville; two stepsons, Mark A. Brewer of Fayetteville and David W. Brewer of Philadelphia; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Moore's Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10: 30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of West Fork with the Rev. Scott Miller officiating under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Winslow
Paul McGuire, 77, of Winslow died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
He was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Huntsville, the son of Samuel A. and Maude Simpson McGuire. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a farmer. He also delivered water to the rural areas and was a foster parents for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Leta Smith McGuire; two sons, Steve McGuire and his wife, Renae, of Winslow and Scott McGuire and his wife, Norma, of Winslow; a daughter, Stasha Spurlock and her husband, Jerry, of Winslow; a brother, James McGuire of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Kevin McGuire, Ryan McGuire and his wife, Mandi, Rachelle Dobbs and her husband, Travis, and Shelby and Erika Spurlock; three greatgrandchildren, Destiny and Dixon Dobbs and Remington McGuire; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Moore's Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore's Chapel with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Winslow. Gravette
Joseph Loren "Joe"Webb, 48, of Gravette died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 21, 1959, in Gravette to Elzy Lee and Ida Lou Leary Webb. He was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Bentonville Street Department for 20 years and also raised beef cattle. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Clark Webb; a son, Zack Webb; a daughter, Amanda Webb; six brothers, John Lee Webb, David Webb and Kenneth Webb, all of Gravette, Rex Webb of Centerton, and Dr. Wm. Frank Webb and Gerald Webb, both of Decatur; and a sister, Lavon Torix of Decatur. Private family services will be held at a later date. Texarkana
The Rev. Carl S. Lengefeld, age 67, of Texarkana passed away May 3, 2008, in Tyler, Texas. He was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Round Rock, Texas, the son of Karl and Lorene (Mercer ) Lengefeld. Carl graduated from Round Rock High School, received a B. A. degree in social studies from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master's degree in theology from the seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he received Jesus as his personal savior and began a ministry that would last for 35 years, pastoring churches and preaching to the homeless. He married Margaret Beall on Nov. 23, 1968. Carl was a chaplain for the Salvation Army at the time of his death. He is preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, C. E. "Pop"Wheatly, who was a very important person in Carl's life. Survivors are his wife, Margaret Lengefeld of Texarkana; son, David Lengefeld and wife Emily of Poyen; daughter, Mary Peter and husband Preston of Fayetteville; brother, Bobby Lengefeld of Florida; sisters, Dorothy Ayers of Fayetteville and Mae Hartzell and husband Bob of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Preston and Chelsea Riley of Fayetteville and Zoe Lengefeld of Poyen; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no formal visitation. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Poyen Assembly of God with Brother David Walker and David Lengefeld officiating. Interment will follow at Lindsey-Poyen Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Thaddeus H. Caraway Post 2278. Pallbearers are T. Preston Peter, Bill and Blake Robinson, Todd Henderson, David Kosters, and Mike White. Honorary pallbearers are Major Chambles, the Rev. Billy Graham, the Rev. Greenfield, Mo.
Douglas Charles Ford, 75, of Greenfield, Mo., died Sunday, May 4, 2008. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Main Street Baptist Church of Greenfield with Pastor Harold McMasters officiating. Memorials can be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
