Santa Fe, N. M.
Our dear beloved friend, John Demar, left this earth on April 23, 2008. John was well known for his mastery of trompe l’oeil and faux painting. He also had the ability to transform simple slabs of wood into extraordinary utilitarian works of art. His work adorns many public and private spaces throughout Arkansas, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and California.
He was born June 23, 1946.
He is survived by two sisters, Julia Vales of Garfield, Ohio, and Barbara Wagner of Bell, Fla.; and many friends.
An eternally cool motorcycle enthusiast, avid reader and fisherman, John passionately sought to unravel the mysteries of life. Most of his adult life was spent in Santa Fe, where he attracted many diverse circles of friends from all walks of life. He was known to bring any gathering to life with his broad range of knowledge, sarcastic wit, unique sense of humor and exuberant laughter.
John brought an intelligent thought-provoking view to the realities and questions of life. This irreplaceable, nonconventional 1960 s child had a knack for taking “ A + B” to equal something or anything more curious and creative than “ C. ” We are distraught over losing the pleasure and honor of his company. John, you are forever deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many and cherished and adored by your dearest ones. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in John’s honor to The Life Link, 2325 Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Condolences may be sent to the Demar Family, 120 Mesa Verde, Santa Fe, NM 87501; or Suzanne Kennedy, 7807 W. John Garrison Road, Fayetteville, AR 72701. — Paid
