Rewording an ordinance to indicate the landowner is donating a roadway was approved Aug. 26 at the Pea Ridge City Council meeting after Howard Slinkard, city attorney, told council members that landowner James R. Bolain wanted to donate the road, yet receive the same price for the lot for the water tower. The purchase price was agreed upon at the July meeting.

"You approved the road and the tract last month. He was donating the easement, he meant to donate the road as well. The total price will remain the same," Slinkard said.

Taking another step towards the installation of the water tower to be erected on that property was the council's approval of a resolution approving the $ 1, 044, 000 loan from the Rural Development Association.

Work also continues on the north sewer line, according to Ken Hayes, water and wastewater superintendent. He said concrete is to be poured soon at the site for the new lift station.

The engineering firm FKF with which the city had contracted for widening Weston Street has gone out of business, according to the mayor.

"FKF has closed so CEI Engineering will be helping us with inspections," Mayor Jackie Crabtree said.

Council member Bob Cottingham asked whether that would cost the city more money, to which Crabtree nodded.

Continuation of the street widening is dependent on moving the gas line by the gas company, Crabtree said, adding that a notice to proceed would follow the completion of moving of all utilities.

In the absence of council members James Dawso and Brian Nave, the mayor voted so that a quorum was present.

In other business, council members Heard a presentation by Brynn Williams, Air Evac Lifeteam representative, for the city to receive a discount to sign up all city employees for membership to the air ambulance service Appointed Michael Ogburn to the Parks Commission.
